LT Rachel McBride

Vice President

My Name is Rachel McBride. Originally from Illinois, I moved to Tuba City in April of 2017 to begin my career as a Registered Dietitian, excited for new opportunities to learn about Native American cultures, unlimited outdoor adventures and lots of sunshine! Outside of clinic, I enjoy being active in the Tuba City community as an assistant basketball coach for the Tuba City High School Lady Warriors and a member of Tuba City Assembly of God. I commissioned in February 2019 and am excited to serve my fellow officers as the Grand Canyon COA Vice President. Ahéhee'

LT Austin Van Horn

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, I worked for CVS for 1 year before beginning to work with TCRHCC. I have gained experience in the outpatient and inpatient pharmacies, the anticoagulation clinic, and the diabetes clinic. In August 2018, I went to OBC and was the honor graduate of class 105. Since joining the Public Health Service I have been involved in setting up healthcare presentations for the community and helping organize the Tuba City Surgeon Generals 5K. I have also become an active member of RDF-5. I look forward to helping our COA expand our outreach and to continue to serve the surrounding community well.

LTCDR (SW) Kirk Shim

Sponsorship Coordinator/ Awards Coordinator

Hello, I’ve been stationed at Tuba City Hospital since 2011 and I have had the opportunity to serve the Navajo Nation and my country at the same time. It is my hope and desire that others seeking the chance to do good to consider this region as a choice of assignments. The people are welcoming and will appreciate your efforts. The work that you will do will be important, satisfying and much needed. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Website Coordinator

I was commissioned as a Nurse Officer in 2012 and have been stationed in Tuba City ever since. I am currently serving as Grand Canyon Commission Corps Association’s Website Coordinator. I started my career at TCRHCC in the Adult Care Unit (ACU) as a new graduate nurse in 2010. After two years on the ACU, I changed positions and moved to the Emergency Room. I recently took a new position at TCRHCC as a House Supervisor. In my free time I enjoy doing activities with my beautiful wife and three children.
