April 24, 2020 – This weekend, Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) will be making a few changes during the Navajo Nation’s 3rd consecutive weekend 57-hour lockdown. The outdoor Triage Tent will not be opened over the weekend, but we will continue to screen all patients coming into the medical campus. The reduction in the hours of our outdoor Triage Tent operation is due to fewer patients coming through during the weekend lockdown.
TCRHCC EPI expressed “We have had the bulk of inpatient admissions and transfers for severe COVID19 illness on the Navajo Nation from the beginning. Now we are seeing some decrease in severe cases but as we test more people there are more patients with COVID 19 in the community with milder illness. We MUST keep up good SHELTER IN PLACE practices.“
“Please honor the curfew,” members from the TCRHCC EPI team expressed. “The Navajo Nation has more cases per person than most other cities and areas in the United States. Continue to practice social distancing, wear a mask whenever in public and continue to make hand hygiene a habit.”
TCRHCC is encouraging the communities they serve to continue to stay home, limit travel in the community and beyond, wash hands after all encounters, cover your cough and wear a mask AND support quarantined patients in the community and self isolated at risk persons – help them stay at home so they don’t spread the virus.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the providers at TCRHCC expressed, “Don’t Wait to See a Provider”. Some conditions should NOT be ignored such as a blood sugar level that’s too high or too low, or feeling pain that is unusual.
TCRHCC understand?s people may feel ill, get injured or develop other health problems during the pandemic. We are still here to help manage chronic medical conditions that need regular treatment and monitoring to help you stay in your best condition during this pandemic.
In response to patients who need to see their provider, TCRHCC has also created safe spaces for patients who need to be seen who are well called TCRHCC Green Zone. This “Green Zone” ?is for routine or urgent concerns NOT related to COVID-19. The Green Zone is for patients without cough, fever, or body aches and have not had an exposure to COVID-19 in the last 14 days. The Green Zone is for our patients who need to see a provider in a safer space.
TCRHCC is also expanding Telehealth (telephone or virtual visits) services with providers in all specialties. Our clinic staff will triage patients for a telephone/video visit or an in-person visit.
“This is a stressful time for everyone,” added the EPI Team. “TCRHCC has ongoing mental health/counseling services now available by telehealth visits. You can call the mental health department to set up an intake visit or to resume services with one of our mental health providers.”

?TCRHCC also wants to continue to send the message: “There continues to be a strong recommendation to avoid any gatherings or having contact with people from other households. We also respectfully request that there be no gathering for funeral services at this time. These are the same instructions given by our Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.”
