What is Durable Medical Equipment (DME)?

DME is any equipment that provides therapeutic benefits to a patient in need because of certain medical conditions and/or illnesses. DME consists of items which:

  •  Are primarily and customarily used to serve a medical purpose.
  •  Are not useful to a person in the absence of illness or injury.
  •  Are ordered or prescribed by a physician.
  •  Are reusable.
  •  Can stand repeated use.
  •  Are appropriate for use in the home.

Fitting & Dispensing Products

  •  The patient must have a referral/prescription from a practicing practitioner.
  •  We will only fit & dispense DME products to patients during the time allotted.
  •  A Physical/Occupational Therapist is present during the fitting & dispensing.
  •  Patients must be present for proper fitting and training of product (s).
  •  Family and/or relatives cannot “pick-up” the product on the patients behalf

For questions or issues regarding Durable Medical Equipment (DME) product(s), please call the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Program at (928) 283-2597. During closed hours, leave a detailed voice message and your call will be returned the next business day. In an event of an emergency, please go to TCRHCC Emergency Department.

For complaints regarding DME product(s), please contact the DMEPOS Program Manager at (928) 283-2597. Within five (5) calendar days of receiving a complaint you will be contacted by telephone, email, fax, or letter that we have received your complaint. Within fourteen (14) calendar days we will provide a written notification of the results of your inquiry and the resolution.

Medicare DMEPOS Supplier Standards Statement

The products and/or services provided to by TCRHCC are subject to the supplier standards contained in the Federal regulations shown at 42 Code of Federal Regulations Section 424.57(c). These standards concern business professional and operational matters (e.g. honoring warranties and hours of operation). The full text of these standards can be obtained at http://www.ecfr.gov. Upon request we will furnish you a written copy of the standards.
