CDC and FDA are reviewing 6 cases of blood clots in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine. These rare and severe blood clots were identified in women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination. As of April 12th, more than 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered across the U.S. This step by the CDC and FDA shows that the federal oversight process for vaccine safety is working, and provides confidence that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines continue to be safe and effective. Individuals should still get vaccinated with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as soon as possible.
