Tuba City Regional Healthcare is standing down the CODE Green for hospital capacity issues. Administrators say they will continue to monitor status of transfers, as Arizona is still at 95% capacity.
On Monday, December 13, surgeries will proceed as scheduled.

TCRHCC Experiences High Census Limited Inpatient Beds Available
TUBA CITY, Ariz. — On Thursday morning, the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) activated the Code Green due to a limited number of inpatient beds available and inclement weather over the next two days. The activation is related to acute care and COVID patient capacities in the State of AZ.
By late Thursday evening, TCRHCC informed local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the surrounding health care organizations that its inpatient units would be going on Diversion. Diversion is a temporary countermeasure that hospitals can activate to minimize the number of high acuity patients that may arrive while they are experiencing an unusually high capacity of admitted patients in all areas of the health facility. TCRHCC emergency room is still able to provide care to walk-in patients during a diversion.
“Due to the timing of a high hospital inpatient census and preparing for a possible large number of emergency room patients, our ICS team and medical staff identified the need to activate our Code Green and divert patients,” said Lynette Bonar, CEO at TCRHCC. “This strategy will help us in the reallocation of staff resources to manage our current high census while still maintaining the high level of care.”
Surgeries scheduled for Friday, December 10 will be cancelled due to the diversion. The operating room staff will be notifying patients about surgery cancellations. “Though this may inconvenience some, the safety of our patients remains our top priority while not overwhelming our medical staff,” said TCRHCC CEO.
Administrators at the hospitals say their capacity is a fluid situation, which could change every few hours.
TCRHCC anticipates that the Code Green status and Diversion will remain in place until Monday, December 13. “Our medical staff are well trained for these types of emergency events to ensure we are always well positioned to resolve them quickly while meeting the needs of our communities. We appreciate the collaboration of our local EMS teams and area hospitals who are able to help accommodate patients during this brief time,” said Bonar.
