TCRHCC Celebrates National Hospital Week, May 9-15

TUBA CITY, AZ–Staff members at Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) are prepared to celebrate National Hospital Week, May 9 – 15. This year’s theme “Health, Hope & Healing,” promotes hospitals a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.

TCRHCC has planned a variety of fun activities to remind employees that they play an important role in the community. A full slate of activities is planned for National Hospital Week at TCRHCC, including: Chair massage for TCRHCC employees all week; Casual Day with a kick-off Fun Run and Walk on Monday; Multiplicity Day with a Staff luncheon on Tuesday; Hawaiian Day at the cafeteria where fruits will be given out on Wednesday; outdoor Employee Recognition Day recognizing Direct Hire with 5 years of service, IPA Federal Years of Service, Commissioned Officers Awards, and Retirees Awards on Thursday; and Jersey/Jean Day with an Ice Cream Social at the cafeteria.

“National Hospital Week, first and foremost, is a celebration of people,” John Pemberton, TCRHCC Director of Human Resources, said. “We’re extremely proud of each member of our staff and we recognize the important role they play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our communities.”

There are so many hard working and dedicated staff members working behind the scenes at TCRHCC. These people include staff members employed in Administration, Adult Care Unit, Contract Health Services, Emergency Room, Environmental Health, Finance, General Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Intensive Care Unit, Medical Records, Nursing Administration, Nutrition & Dietary, OB/GYN Unit, Patient Registration, Pediatrics, Physical Therapy, Public Health Nurses, Radiology, Security, and Switchboard departments – just to name a few.

“National Hospital Week gives us an opportunity to recognize the contributions of our health care workers and celebrate the great things happening at the Tuba City hospital,” said Pemberton.

The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
