Tuba City Hospital to hold ribbon cutting ceremony for addition to Emergency Department on March 10

TUBA CITY, Ariz –Tuba City Regional Health Care Corp. (TCRHCC) has completed construction for an addition to the Emergency Department and set a March 10 ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. The addition increases the size of the Emergency department by 10 beds.

“We are proud and excited for the opening of the addition to the Emergency Department as it will optimize our existing emergency department space to meet the community’s current and future needs as the hospital continues to provide quality care, improve capacity and patient flow,” said CEO Joette Walters. “We have needed this addition for more than a decade. We have grown fast over the years and the medical services we provide have also increased. So, we needed more efficient and safe space.”

She said the additional space will add an environment that provides ventilation that is safe for staff and patients. “The Covid-19 pandemic forced many health care facilities to improve ventilation,” she said.

TCRHCC Chief Operating Officer Julius Young II said the project was made possible through COVID-19 response and preparedness funding and that there will be no changes to the ambulance entering and accessing from the north ER entrance. Visitor parking will be on the south campus near the three-story outpatient center.

The ceremony will be held on Friday, March 10, beginning at 10:00 AM at the Emergency Department ambulance entrance area. The public is invited.

“This first phase of the emergency room expansion started back in March 2022. The new part of the Emergency Department includes 8 private treatment rooms, 2 trauma rooms, additional space for storage, and workstations with new equipment and monitoring systems,” said COO Julius Young II. ”This expansion project adds an additional 6,000 square feet to the hospital.”
