TCRHCC Announces Reopening of Affected Buildings

Tuba City, Ariz. – Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) is reopening all facilities following confirmation that water is safe for consumption and use.

On September 8, 2025, TCRHCC activated a Code Green in response to water line issues affecting multiple facilities. As a precautionary safety measure, water service to the affected buildings was shut off for all use.

Two rounds of water testing were conducted during the response—one to establish a baseline and another to measure any changes after corrective actions were taken. Results have now confirmed that water is safe for use. As a result, affected buildings and offices will begin returning to their normal locations, and restrooms in the Administration Building will reopen for use.

“First and foremost, the safety of our staff, patients, and community was our highest priority. Our team did its due diligence in addressing this issue. We worked closely with outside experts to review findings and identify the best solutions,” said Joette Walters, CEO. “The process took time, but we want to assure you—we did not cut corners. Every step was focused on safety and long-term results.”

She added, “Turnaround times for water testing can vary depending on the type of test, taking anywhere from 5 to 14 days. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process. We remain committed to keeping you updated and ensuring that our facilities are safe for everyone.”

Background
On September 8, 2025, water discoloration was identified in the Administration Building. In response, a Code Green was activated, and the TCRHCC Water Incident Plan was implemented as a precautionary measure to protect patients, staff, and visitors. Temporary measures, including water distribution and the use of backup resources, allowed critical hospital and clinic operations to continue without interruption while testing was conducted.

Next Steps
With safe water levels confirmed, normal operations are being restored across the affected facilities. TCRHCC Water Management Committee will remain active to monitor the situation, creating action plans for future water line replacement, and coordinate any additional safety measures as needed.

The return to full operations will begin Monday, October 6, 2025:

  • The Specialty Care Center will be fully operational.
  • The Mental Health Department will be fully operational.
  • Full operations will also resume in the following buildings:
    – Administration Building
    – General Services Building
    – Laundry Building
    – Specialty Care Center

Patients with previously canceled appointments in the affected clinics will be contacted directly by clinic staff to reschedule.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we move through this process. We remain committed to keeping you updated and ensuring that our facilities are safe for everyone.
